This a simple delicious recipe which is easy to cook and is easy to digest.This is a highly nutritious recipe and is common in indian kitchens. This recipe is made by cooking rice and dal (pulses) together.
We are preparing this recipe with rice, pulses and vegetables. It’s a complete meal full of carbs, proteins and fiber. If you are in hurry you can make it without veggies.

1 cups rice
1 cup of  green split dal, massor dal, moong dal all together
( red split lentils, yellow lentil and green lentil)
1 finely sliced oniondals
4-5 small size tomatoes
4 slitted into halves green chillies
1 bowl of vegetables (carrots, French beans, cauliflower, peas, potatoes( optional)
Coriander leaves
Garlic and ginger finely chopped or can add its paste
Salt to taste
2 spoon vegetable oil or clarified butter (desi ghee)
7-8 curry leaves
4-5 cloves
Cinnamon 2 sticks
8 cups water
1/3 spoon mustard seeds
1/3 spoon cumin seeds
a pinch of turmeric powder


How to make rice khichdi:

Take the cooker. Heat oil in it add cumin seeds (jeera), mustard seeds, asafoetida, cloves and cinnamon sticks . Fry it for 30 seconds
Now add curry leaves, garlic, green chillies. Cook for half a minute. Now add onions, cook for 1 minute, add chopped vegetables, salt and turmeric . Add little water if required.
Once vegetables are done about 30% add chopped tomatoes. Cook for 1 more minute. Add water, rice and dal. Close the pressure cooker with the lid and cook under pressure till 2-3 whistles are given.
Open the cooker when the pressure reduces completely, add garam masala and mix. Garnish it with green coriander leaves.

It taste best with papad and curd. Relish it !
