What are they?

The seeds from the flax plant can be used whole, ground to make meal or used to create a vegetable oil known as flaxseed oil (or linseed oil). Flaxseed is one of the most concentrated plant sources of omega-3 fats. Flaxseeds contain 50 to 60 per cent omega-3 fatty acids in the form of alpha linolenic acid. Flaxseeds are also rich in antioxidants, B vitamins, dietary fibre, a group of phytoestrogens called lignans, protein and potassium

 Benefits of flax seed or linseeds-

1. Prevents Heart Disease
Flaxseed is considered good for heart because it contains omega 3. The other reason that it is good for heart is flaxseed helps in lowering the blood pressure.
Flaxseed also seems to make platelets, the blood cells involved in clotting, less sticky. Overall, flaxseed’s effects on cholesterol and blood clotting may lower the risk of “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis).

2. Lowers High Cholesterol
Flaxseed oil is considered as good fats.It helps lower the High cholesterol which is dangerous for the heart. So to keep your heart healthy never miss to include one spoon of flaxseed oil or 2 spoons of grounded flaxseed in your diet.

Flaxseed is a great diet addition because of its great benefits. One of the main reason to include flaxseed in your diet is that it helps in reducing fat from the body. Flaxseed increases the body’s metabolism and secondly the fibre in the grounded flax helps to get the body rid of fats. Flax along with proteins keep you fuller for longer time which means it keeps you away from the food cravings.
