Benefits of pranayama

Pranayama is control of Breath”. “Prana” is Breath or vital energy in the body which is responsible for life or life force, and “ayama” means control. So Pranayama is “Control of Breath”.

Yoga is worldwide famous and breathing exercises are part of yoga which benefits you in many ways. We all need to breathe to live. In the process of breathing we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Our body is made of trillions of cells and each cell needs oxygen to survive. Through breathing we provide oxygen to all the cells and take out the waste , carbon dioxide from the cells. This process goes on and on till we live.
In yoga breathing exercises are named as Pranayama. Pranayama is a controlled breathing technique which brings about calmness and stability as a bridge between mind and body.

The question arises that if the breathing process is going on and on since we took birth then why to learn and what to learn?
